Classic Colour Process 

To understand what plant based colour is, it is first necessary to understand how classic colour work, which represent more than 95% of hair colour done today.

Classic colour or oxidative colour is based on a chemical reaction: Oxidation.

The products used are based on ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, and synthetic colourants. These open the hair cuticles and break down melanin, the natural pigments that give hair its colour. The hair is therefore bleached. At the same time, synthetic pigments recolour the hair, substituting for the natural pigments.

Organic Colour Process

In contrast to classic colouring, there is plant based colouring, which is 100% natural and made solely from plants. It does not work based on oxidation, does not open the hair fibre, and does not penetrate its core. Instead, it coats the hair surface and forms a protective layer without altering its pH.

It involves using pure plant powders (mainly henna and indigo) nothing else, mixed with hot water to create a creamy paste. This paste is applied to the hair, allowing the natural pigments to adhere to the hair's outer layer (cuticle).

When performed with high-quality plants and strict protocols, plant based colouring is permanent and can completely cover gray hair. The colour range for plant based colouring is wide, including blond, brunette, chestnut, red, black, and more.

With the hair coated by plant based pigments, it becomes more resilient and shiny, regaining elasticity and volume (an average increase of 20%).  A good plant based colour treatment evolves beautifully over time, making the hair increasingly more beautiful with each application.
